mepis very slow to connect to internet

Hello
I hope someone can help me with a very slow connection to the internet - not surfing or downloading - just switching on the pc, waiting for the mepis display screen and then perhaps 10 minutes before it decides to connect via asdl. From a fresh install of 3.3.1 two months ago it is getting slower and slower. Two months ago it connected almost straight away. Any ideas please.
Thanks

You'll have to explain this to me please.
Fresh installation & mozilla connected to the internet asdl by itself. I did not configure anything.
I set up the configuation for kmail - that's all.
Everything fine until a few weeks ago when it started to take longer & longer to connect.

Slow it is, for now....

I'm using Mepis 8 beta RC2 on 512 MB RAM, P4. It is slow to
establish the Taskbar Icons and connect (about 2 minutes).

Minimum System requirements for a 32-bit environment:

# 2.5 GB free space on the hard disk
# 128 MB RAM
# Pentium II/Athlon CPU

Older hardware:
http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.p...n_old_hardware

_____________________________________________________________

Mepis - 64:

# 3 GB free space on the hard disk
# 192 MB RAM

More info:

http://www.mepis.org/docs/en/index.p..._SimplyMepis64

I hope this information helps; good luck,

-Salman

Apply updates

Hi,

Try to upgrade your kernel & apply the patches that might get you going. It might be a bug with your current kernel.
