Media Test Passed, md5checksum failed


i downloaded the md5checksum file of RH8 and then copied the iso images of the RH8 cds which passed the media test.

i runned md5sum but those iso images failed. whats this?

Did you download in binary mode? If media test passed, I would say go for it. If you're worried about it and have time, download again using an FTP prgram (Not a download agent from inside a browser) and be sure to set mode to BIN or binary.

you see i want to download RH 8 disc 1 'coz its corrupted but i'm not sure if it will work. im just a dial-up user. has anybody tried downloading RH 8 from the Redhat ftp site? and are the first 3 cds of RH 8 enough to successfully complete RH 8 installation?

I think disk 4 is documentation, but I'm not sure. It's been a while since I looked at RH8. Sorry I can't give an absolute answer. I checked through my disks and I had 7.2, 7.3, 9 No RH8 disks...
