how can i run media player in rhel-5

yes you can run media player built for Linux such as MPlayeer, VLC Player for Linux, Real Player Linux

You can install VLC, MPlayer and various plugins from the DAG yum repository.

anupam here is the solution,

#rpm -Uhv http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/i386/...l5.rf.i386.rpm

then

#yum install mplayer

or

#yum install xmms or vlc or xine anything you want

Click on their entries in your desktop environment's menu, or run them in a terminal, e.g.

$ mplayer
