told me to put a network installation disk in it, and i think it was the wrong one(sorry, i was trieng to see if i could find related topics and pressed "enter"

A file server is basically a server that allows users the ability to store their documents and projects in a specified area. It allows the server to backup the files at a central location.

Are you saying that this laptop came with linux installed? If it did you may want to go and download a distro like Ubuntu or Fedora core 5 and burn the iso images. They are great distro's for beginners.
