MDK is generally buggy, do I recompile? Re-install?
The power went out on my system a little while ago, and even though I have all my documents saved and so forth my system (emachines laptop running MDK 10) has become rather buggy. MPlayer is very picky about which files it plays but it usually gives a nasty crash message (and a reinstall of this doesn't do any good), and in general I think that the power outage did something nasty. If this were a Windows computer, I would just reinstall the OS, but it seems that this is not a good idea based on what I have read. Would it be prudent to re-compile my kernel? If reinstalling is an option, how do I go about this?
