Hi,
I'm not 100% sure I follow your question, but if you simply need the Kernel headers to compile your modem drivers you should use rpmdrake (or the GUI Package Installation option) to install the kernel source, this package contains all the kernel headers used for your Mandrake install.
Cheers,
Merijn

sorry ... I forgot to install the sources and I believed it was installed ... I'll try again
I recieved: "/usr/src/linux is an inadequate source of kernel-headers" for this I was confused

have you compiled your own kenel? or you have the one that came with mandrake? MDK 10 have to kernels (2.4.* and 2.6.*) make sure you install the one you use.
