Unable to get install disc to work. Is there a terminal command to make it run?

Could you tell us more?

Mate what? Do you mean Linux Mint MATE edition?

Does the boot simply skip the optical drive? In that case, check the BIOS or EFI settings to make sure that CD boot is enabled and comes before hard drive boot.

Also, read a bit on how to ask a Linux Question is such a way as to get good answers.
