Masking outgoing mail (Sendmail)

Sort of new to the whole Sendmail thing. Dunno if this is the correct forum. Basically I cant seem to get genericstable to work. Example:

I have a local account called thisaccount. thisaccount has an email address of account@domain.com. Now incoming I have aliases working so when I send to account@domain.com it goes to thisaccount. The problem is outgoing.

When I send out it always sends as thisaccount@domain.com. Im using squirrelmail with imap to send out. I tried using domainstable like so:

thisaccount account@domain.com

I then hashed it with:

makemap hash genericstable < genericstable

Tried to even restart sendmail. Still cant get this to work. DNS is working fine or my aliases wouldnt work at all. If you need additional information, then please let me know. The only way I can get this to work is if I specify a FROM address. But I would then have to rely on the client to change it on their side.

In my sendmail.mc, I used m4 to make the changes to cf file, I have:

FEATURE(`mailertable',`hash -o /etc/mail/mailertable.db')dnl
FEATURE(`virtusertable',`hash -o /etc/mail/virtusertable.db')dnl
FEATURE(`genericstable', `hash -o /etc/mail/genericstable')dnl
GENERICS_DOMAIN_FILE(`/etc/mail/generics-domains')dnl

I tired with genericstable.db as well, no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks!
Silly

No, you can convert outgoing email per local account bases. But I just cant get it to work. At work my home folder is fname but my email goes out as firstname.lastname@domain.com.

I just hope I dont have to write a conversion in sendmail.cf
