Many Knoppix Qns - Help Needed

I have several questions regarding Knoppix 3.4 Download Edition..

I am using it on the Compaq Presario x1000 notebook. Firstly to restore sanity and escape from windows once in a while And also seeking to test out Linux, to see when it's time to switch, or dual-boot at least...i.e when everything works well easily...centrino...hibernate etc..I dont really have time to manually configure everything...but i already have 10GB unpartitioned space waiting for Linux...waiting for the right time(been waiting for quite some time already)...I might even end up just installing Knoppix to HDD since it's quite usable and preconfigured...once school reopens I'll again be too busy to spend time on any of these...

I am seriously a linux noob, so any help is greatly appreciated. I am seeking to reduce my dependance on Microsoft, step by step. Windows is getting on my nerves...

And if this isnt the right place to ask or anything, pls tell me...thanks...

1) Can the Knoppix "home" directory be on a USB thumbdrive (like mandrake move)? So you can boot into a "clean" knoppix by not plugging in the thumbdrive, or boot to a customised one by plugging it in at startup. And also carry your data around of course.

2) Is the "home" directory data compatible between different versions of knoppix. e.g. ver 3.3 and 3.4, or are we "locked in" to a specific version?

3) Can the Knoppix disc be ejected while it is running. e.g. to burn a disc. or watch dvds. Or must we have 2 cd drives?

4) Is kopete is Knoppix 3.4? I couldnt find it, even though it is part of KDE now? Unfortunately I dont really like Gaim.

5) Does Knoppix support multiple sound output. As in, when I was playing frozen bubble with sound, I couldnt listen to mp3s until the game was closed. Isnt that a bit ridiculous?

6) Does hibernate (save RAM to HDD and power down) / standby (power down to RAM only) work in knoppix? If yes, how do I activate them?

7) How does the apt-get thingy works? installing new applications? I dont understand it..seems completely different from how things works over at the windows side..will someone explain it to me pls?

Thanks...

apt-get and the gui frontend for it ROCK if using synaptic just search for what you want and it does it all for ya if you use synaptic its pretty intuitive
