Question many ideas for firefox and os x, but not linux distros

Why are there many ideas for firefox and os x, but not linux distros?

Maybe... firefox is easily extensible...
Maybe... linux distros require a reboot per experimentation...

What do you think?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Linux distros rarely require rebooting after tinkering with them. In most of the cases restarting some services is enough.

I think the kind of additions you're talking about are more related to desktop environments (Gnome,KDE,XFCE, etc) not the system itself.
