Is there any method to run setup/installation manually from installation cd./mounted iso image or copied files
In my case i booted system with a bootable cd which have a minimal linux system on it and after boot, i mount the iso image of linux distro (SUSE 10.0)now how c an i start install process.
If you are trying to install Suse 10.0, you need to boot your computer from this CD and follow the instructions.
I have DVD iso image of SUSE linux and a cd writer so i can't burn and run it.
I previously installed Fedora Core 5 by this method but the only difference is that, in FC5 there is a mini iso available which can be burned to cd and start installation using it.
But in SUSE installation there are no such iso/image is available.
There are CD iso's available: http://iso.linuxquestions.org/versio...ersion=219#x86
If you can't burn DVDs, the I would recommend going with one of the CDs. I know its 5 CD, but you may not have many other options.
I'm pretty sure you cannot install like you suggest, as you would not be able to format the partition you were logged into. If you don't understand what I'm saying, I could clarify.
On my hdd i already partitioned its second partition as ext3 and third as swap. I hv win system installed in first partition and the iso image is lying on fifth one, so there is no issue of making or formatting partitions.
But now it seems that this may not be the correct method to install.
But i am curious about installation process. I think in installation CD, it have some basic linux system which boot and mount the cd rom and then start the installation. I just want to know that which process or executable starts nstallation.
I see what you're talking about now. I've wondered that myself, but unfortunantly I don't have an answer for you. I would recommend taking a look at an ISO from a smaller distrobution, and then asking a similar question on the developer's mailing list.
