Mankrake 10....A real Newbie review
I had Mandrake 9 installed, I really found it difficult coming from the Windows environment and still do. Just wasn't very intuitive and maybe it isn't suppose to be. I check this board a lot read a bit but still was having a lot...I mean a lot of trouble. I figured I would give Mandrake 10 a try for fun. Big difference for a new linux user. First I didn't have to configure anything for scrolling mouse. Second I downloaded Firefox web browser in 3 minutes but right clicking then dragging the icon to desktop. I spend two days trying to do this in Mandrake 9.
Again, just a Windows user trying to slowly transition to Linux I have so far found a big difference with Mandrake 10. Curious how other distro's are for really new users. |
Ho Hum. The joy's of the linux learning curve.
But yes, sometimes "they" just do a few mod's between distro revision's, but sometimes the changes are very fundamental. All I can really say, is that Mandrake have come a considerable distance since I tried it at version 8.2 - which was pretty neat, but you still had some work to do with it. I'm just waiting for version 10 official (powerpack dvd) too arrive. 10 community was a blast, especially with the 2.6 kernel regards John p.s. the only time I've had snag's with my scrolling mouse facility, was when I was meddling with gentoo, and all I had to do was add Quote:
