Hi,

I have been searching but can't seem to find any info on setting up repositories for mandriva 2006 with synaptic.I have synaptic and it loads fine.

any tutorials or info would be greatly appreciated.

Have you set up any repositories at all - using anything other than Synaptic eg easyurpmi?

I finally managed to get synaptic working.For anyone else having trouble this is how i did it.

Setting up Repositories in synaptic under mandriva 2006.

Browse to /etc/apt/ and open sources.list in your favourite editor.


As an example to show how it can be done , here is what I added to my /etc/apt/sources.list

I have also added the installation CD's

The thing i noticed was that you can't use the synthesis.hdlist.cz you must use the hdlist.cz files which tend to be quite large.(e.g. 8MB for one that i use) this is painfull for people like me on dialup as it takes for ever.I initally loaded synaptic after making these changes and clicked on reload Package Information under the Edit menu it came up failed but i noticed the internet connection working it's *** off eventually about 32 minutes later it came up fine and i was away.
Just remember if your on dialup the hour glass can sit there for quite a while.

All I see are URPMI and SMART options. I don't see anything for APT.

I added APT::Cache-Limit "50000000"; to apt.conf when it gave me "mmap ran out of room"
I had to comment out most sources becase apt gave me an error:
"E: Wow, you exceeded the number of package names this APT is capable of."
