Question mandriva spring RC3 installation sucks!


this latest version still gave the probelm of installation on P965 motherboard with JMB 361 SATA IDE controller.
Installation couln't go through.
any helps?

This post seems to be referring to something we are supposed to already know about????? (And yet this is your first and only post... )

Can you tell us exactly what happens--error messages, etc.?

Cool thanks, anyway

after entensive reviews, I think the reason is that the kernel (2.6.17.13) of Mandriva spring RC3 still doesn't support JMB 361(or 363) SATA IDE controller.
So, need to wait for some months..

I rather doubt it; I didn't have any issues whatsoever installing with an ASUS P5B mobo - it has one of those "blessed" JMicron monsters too...

As for the kernel in question, yes, that does look suspicious. Most distros do not support JMicron until 2.6.18 - but Mandriva seems to have added some patches so that their 2.6.17 does recognize the controller.

Btw, I've been using Mandriva 2007.1 since RC1.
