Mandriva one - games won't run

Hi again,

I'm having problems trying to run any kinda game, even the ones that come with mandriva. I first tried wolf et, but had to update the drivers for my nvidia Geforce 4 Ti4200, yes i know its old, but hey, can't afford a flash card, let alone a pc at present! I had to download deleveloper tools to install the drivers, I think i'm did everything right or am I just hoping for too much from my card??

I've tried getting screen shots of the error that comes up, but I'm always a second to late to get it! After many attempts! Like I say I've also tried installing games such as Quake II, but all it does is sit on the toolbar for a while and then . . . nothing! :-(

Any ideas?

You can check that the 3D drivers are working okay by typing glxgears -printfps. I think anything over ~1000fps means acceleration is working...

Beyond that, how much RAM do you have and how much is required for the games you're trying to play? Do you have a swap partition/file?

And try starting your games from a terminal window, you may see some useful error messages.
