mandriva not booting...

Ok, so here is the situation. My friend's laptop had windows, but it crashed. I wanted to reinstall windows for him but his cd drive died too. So now i took his HD out and put it in my laptop. I installed this Mandriva and it works fine on this computer. I try to boot it on his laptop, and it just goes to a terminal type this and sits there. How do i get it to the desktop?

If you are switching to a new laptop, you need to reconfigure Xorg to work on the new computer. You should be able to fix this by typing "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", and then answering the questions according to your graphics hardware.

Hope this helps!

Oh, sorry! I forgot Mandriva used RPMs instead of DEBs. If you run "sudo Xorg -configure", it should generate a working xorg.conf file. To test the new configuation, try "sudo X -config /root/xorg.conf.new". If it works, just copy the new file over your existing xorg.conf file.
