MANDRIVA install success

Hi All;
This is to encourage all you newbies like me.
I downloaded Mandriva One from the Mandriva website, burnt the cd with INFRARECORDER, and ran the live CD. Then I installed the system and this post is useing it. This was done with only 1 glitch. After installation on startup Mandriva has a survey for you to fill out. On the first page the "NEXT" button was blank so I couldn't do the survey. The "CANCEL" button worked fine. All is going well so far. I've set up the KDE desktop, and ripped a CD. Will proceed to some more applications.

Congratulations!

Welcome to Linux.

Mandriva really is a great distro to start!

Cheers!

Well done. Mandrake was the one that I first used in anger (the predecessor to Mandriva).

It was good, but when I learned it's short comings I looked elsewhere so I've had Sidux for about 18 months.

Irrespective of that, just don't let it frighten you off, because an app happens to work differently from it's windows equivalent.

Linux generally can do all that windows does (and more in some cases). It just gets there by a different route. Plus it sometimes needs a little help getting there.

regards

John
