Mandriva 2009.1 - No Sound

Hello everyone,

I think it goes without saying, I'm pretty new to Linux. I have Mandriva 2009.1, and an HP Pavilion dv5 laptop with an ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) sound card. I've tried the fix Mandriva has in their list of Errata (switching the option in PulseAudio from digital to analog) but have had no success. I was wondering if anyone here has encountered the same problem and as found a way around it? It has kind of driven me to my wits end.

Thanks,
M@

It sounds stupid, but make sure your volume levels are all turned all the way up. Every time I've ever installed Mandriva they are all turned way down by default.

If you still have problems, you can try disabling Pulse. I had problems in old versions of Mandriva with it. Its in the mandrake control center under hardware. Uncheck the pulseaudio box and give that a shot. Pulseaudio basically doesn't do anything but cause problems it seems.

Sir, I thank you 100 times over. Both things you mentioned happened to be the problem.
