Unhappy Mandriva 2005: when boot screen goes blank

I've just installed the Mandriva 2005 system in my desktop along with windows XP. Installation was very easy and with no problems but when I rebooted the system, I set through the lilo loader the linux setting, it started loading the system and at the end the screen just went black.

Then I reinserted the dvd to perform a repair-upgrade everythin was ok and in the detection of the hardware it detected my graphics card (ATI Rage 128) but when I clicked on test I had exactly the same behaviour.
So it appears that it has to do with my graphics card. Do you have any ideas as to what to do now?

When choosing to load windows everything goes smooth.

I have an AMD-64 @ 3GHz. I have a 20Gb hard drive dedicated to windows and a 10Gb to Linux.

Cheers

I've already mentioned this in the closed thread in Linux - General. This one has been reported to be moved accordingly.
