mandrake9.1 freezes during bootup: Finding module dependencies


when i install mandrake 9.1, and reboot after the install, the system freezes never passing "Finding module dependences". i can clrt+c out of it if i do it within 1 second of it starting , but then it freeses on checking for new hardware which i cant clrl+c past, otherwise it hangs andi have to reboot. i am a definate n00b, just letting you all know
