Mandrake questions

I've installed Mandrake 9.0. After trying for a while I finally got my DSL connection up and running yesterday...or so I thought... now today it won't work...I have installed anything new...nothing has changed in the settings...it won't work...it says I'm connected but nothing works...any ideas.

2nd question: I did however try to do a Mandrake Update to get the latest packages...for those of you who have tried it, you know you're prompted to choose a mirror FTP site to download from...the one I chose sucks...how can I change that selection. When I go back to Mandrake Update via Mandrake Control Center, it contacts the same FTP site...I want to try a different one.

Is there any other way to connect to the internet instead of going to MCC and choosing Network, connection, connect and waiting thru all the testing of my connection?? Maybe a shortcut somewhere???

I am such a newbie to linux...I'm an MCP for Windows NT, but linux is much more fun

Thanx everyone...this place is very helpful

Well for queston 1, you might have to put a dns server ip, in the internet setup

Did it

I have put first DNS server IP and 2nd DNS server IP in the INternet config...that was really important as I learned...it was quite the headache...I'm sure you know...

thanx for the reply

Bug..there must be a bug

Someone mentioned there is a bug in Mandrake regarding iNet access... they must be right...cause now the connection works as I am writing this from mandrake...I simply restarted my computer from Win XP and now the internet works go figure
