mandrake packaging vanishes during update

ok i had an interesting experience last night.
used the install software option in the packaging section so i could update a few bits and pieces online.
i selected around 120meg worth of packages to update (major ones being, nautilus, evolution, gimp).
then i went to sleep.
when i woke up i saw that the gui for the updating had stalled. no bar movement, nothing.
so i clicked the x to kill it. it did so.
then i tried to go back into install software. one problem. the ENTIRE packaging section had gone.
mandrake update, install software...the lot of them. so it somehow has uninstalled itself during the night.
my question now is...how do i get those back from the installl cds i have (mandrake community 10).
im a newb so i have no idea how to do this without the gui which has vanished.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
