Question mandrake not working with my modem

I have a KDS Valiant laptop.installed mandrake on the lap top everything works great ,except.
the modem won't allow me to connect to the internet
i assume cause the laptop has a winmodem.and heaven forbid windows allow linux/mandrake work with the product.
Is there a way to make this problem go away?
all replies will be helpfull.

Search online for the type of modem + linux, and maybe you'll find a driver pack.

Also check your ISP verification details are correct, and that a firewall isnt blocking your access...just incase (from experience)
