Mandrake move & Windows 98

I would like to boot up my computer using the MandrakeMove CD. I am using windows 98 as my operating system and when I restart the computer it does not seem to recognise the e:\ drive (this is where I have placed the mandrakemove cd).

Does anybody have any advice on how I can boot up my computer from a cd drive?

Thank you.

conoroleary,

Have you tried any other CD in your E:\> drive ???

Could it be the drive is "dead" ??

When Win98 is up and running do you put the MandrakeMove CD in the drive THEN reboot your computer ???

My CD drive works after Windows boots, but it doesn't work from the MS-DOS prompt screen at start-up (I think this is the same as being dead?).

Yes.

Silly question but ... do you have the BIOS setup to boot from the CD-Rom before the HDD?

That isn't a silly question to me! The answer is 'probably not'.
I don't know much about Windows or Linux, so I'm a newbie in every sense of the word. I'll have a look into 'BIOS'...thanks for the pointer!

conoroleary,

"My CD drive works after Windows boots....."

What does this mean, the little lite comes on ???

Try putting a CD [with something on it] in the drive then go to My Computer and RIGHT click on floppy drive icon.

In the popup menu click on "Open" and see if window opens showing CD contents.
