Mandrake Move 10. Error I can't solve...

I am getting two errors when booting I get:

CRC error
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(22,7)

I have gotten this on two machines, using Mandrake Move 10.0 from TAFusion. I have found it almost impossible to get tech support. Does anybody here have an idea how to correct this or fix it?

I'd like to renew this thread to say I'm having the exact same problem (thank God for google). The kernel panic comes after text-GUI notification that the system "Could not mount compressed loopback :(." I believe this stems from an error involving sysroot.

In the log screen (alt+F3):

mount failed: Invalid argument

unsetting automatic

In my interactive shell (alt+F2), a quick cd into /sysroot shows that no directory named image_boot exists. When I try to create one there and "mount -t iso9660 /dev/loop0 /sysroot/image_boot" manually, it says "Mount: : Permission denied".

This happens as well with the Mandrake 10.1 Community installation cdrom, which is really upsetting, considering that I used that CD to install linux before I upgraded my hardware.

Current hardware:
Motherboard: MSI KT4A-V
Processor: Amd Athlon XP (Not a Barton)
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 2 MX

Ok, I'm kind of upset that a problem gets totally ignored on this site because of the sheer volume of new threads per day. I mean, I've posted here with I think 3 total questions, and never once got a response. I'm not sure if there's some sort of community code I'm missing that makes you guys tune me out, or if it happens to everyone else as well (in which case I strongly suggest the administrators consider doing something to accommodate the traffic).

I got my system working again. I was planning on swapping out parts one by one, but as it turned out, I didn't need to go any further than the cdrom drive. The first replacement I tried appeared broken, since it wouldn't even boot to the mandrake installer's/Move's boot loader. The second one, which was taken from my regular windows machine, worked. Actually, occasionally it ran into read errors (at a later stage in the boot process than the one I was plagued by before), but it was able to boot successfully most of the time.

The working drive model is BTC BCD 40XH. The original one that had me tearing my hair out was a TEAC CD-56E. I hope this helps someone with a related problem, but the solution was more experimental trial-and-error than technical.
