I recently reformatted my whole hard drive and installed XP first into a 10 gig partition, then installed Mandrake Linux 9.0 on the leftover 10 gigs. When I got to the point in the install where it asks questions about the screen (resolution) I chose 1024x768x16, from the documentation I read I should have gotten a test screen and a box asking me if it looked OK, sadly I never got either.
I have no GUI, just the Linux command line. From what I have heard the above chip isn't supported by Linux yet, is that true or am I mistaken? I searched for Linux drivers but the closest I got were some 845 drivers off of Intels web site.
PS. How do I change LILO so that it doesn't automatically boot Linux if you wait to long at the OS selection screen? How do I make it just sit there and wait?
PSS. Is there a text editor that is easier to use? I tried those two text editors that came with the install (Vi , iV, or whatever, and that other one.), any tuts on how to use them?
