Mandrake does not read Windows made cd's

Yo!

I have noticed that Mandrake does not read Windows made cd's. How to turn this option on? I have heard that this requires recompiling the kernel?

I have never had a problem reading windows made CD's. The CD format for windows and Linux is the same so cd's should be readable on each. What type of CD is it?

the cds are burned whit an standart and itīs the same for windows, Mac, or *NIX, so there is no diference between burning a cd in a diferent platform.

ISO9660

Make sure you are burning in the ISO9660 format, and not JOLIET.

Although I can't walk walk you through fixing it as I have neither Nero or Easy CD.

It think it should accept Joliet...this really is M$ standard. Redhat reads very well my cd's all of them.

I would like to know how to make this Mandrake to accept also Joliet....

As far as I know, you have to recompile the kernel to get Joliet to be accepted. You should do ls -la /boot to see if you have .config or config or something like it.

If you do, then cat /boot/.config | less | grep JOLIET (I think this works...or just look through everything... cat /usr/src/.config | less).

See if Joliet is compiled into the kernel. Joliet is under filesystems in the .config file, I think.

Well, good luck.
