Unhappy Mandrake + CDROM problem


Hi,

I have a problem with my mandrake when i am installing Mandrake on my laptop ( IBM, R52 ) after running installation it says NO CDROM DETECTED. I should mention my machine has a DVD-RW... I am wondering why it cant detect my device !!! Then it says choose a driver from the menu & i have no clue what should i do there cause cdrom.ko didnt work on the list too...

Can someone help me with that plz ?

P.S. Machine details : P M 740(1.7GHz), 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HDD, 15in 1024x768 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, Intel 802.11bg wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, IEEE 1394, 6 cell Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

when the startup screen pops up right after u insert the cd press F1 and type in linux ide=nodma
this should fix ur problem

okay, the problem is most likely hardware. try buying a new cdrom drive or install over a network. Check to see if ur cdrom drive is old

here a bretter fix. insert ur mandrake cd 2 THEN after it startup switch it with CD 1
tell me how it goes

Okay, I'll do that... plus I bought this laptop 2 months ago & all equipments are new ... I have no clue why it happens !
