Mandrake and changing.........
I have Mandrake 10.1 and I am a total newbie to Linux. I was wondering how do you add different screensavers. I have one to pick from and that is it.
Remember I am a total newbie so spell it out if you can! Thank you very much, husker |
easy urpmi
just follow the steps to add package sources and install the ones you want with "install software" .it's easier than it looks. |

You need to install a package called xscreensaver. To do this you can do as root in a terminal/console
Code:
#urpmi xscreensaver |

you might be stuck in the MDK hell of botched updates.
have you installed more screensavers? xscreensaver is just the program they run on. |

Thanks for your help by the way! here is where I am trying to get my screensaver from http://www.linuxhotbox.com/fun/Linux...savers%201.htm scroll to the bottom and it is called cubestorm. |
tar xzvf /directory/to/install/to/xscreensaver/xscreensaver-4.14.tar.bz is the cli format to unpack with.
then cd /xscreensaver-4.14 ,make ,su><password> ,make install to install in the current directory. i don't know off-hand what directory it needs to go into though,my interest in screensavers is in disabling them. you could go into install software and search for screensaver and let urpmi handle the install though. |
