Mandrake 9 / Highpoint 372 Raid
Im a total, 100% Linux newbie. After lots of research, I thought i'd give Mandrake a try. So i cleared some space on my HD (which is connected to a HPT372 RAID controller on my Abit m/board). Unforunately Mandrake throws a fit while trying to search for my HD. I then found the following webpage on this forum :
http://www.terra.es/personal2/capullator/ This page gives you a file called "install_mandrake9_hpt372.tgz". My question is, what the hell am i supposed to do with this file ? Thanks. |
I suppose it's a modified boot disk. I set up RH 7.3 with a HPT 372 RAID controller by booting from a special bootdisk and using a driverdisk and a special kernel to be able to use the RAID system ... you should extract that package using
Code:
tar xvfz install_mandrake9_hpt372.tgz |
Hi! I'm newbie too.... :) and the past week i've installed RH8 on my abit with HPT370 raid controller.
With no driver/boot disk, after installation all my disk (3 on hpt) are view like hd*... not scsi. At page http://www.highpoint-tech.com/370drivers_down.htm u may found proper driver or the src (with doc). To night I try to update the kernel with this recompiled mod. By |
RedHat 8.0 / Highpoint 370 RAID
I've been trying to get my HPT370 RAID working with RedHat 8 but to no avail...
Following the instructions in the Linux Source code distribution of the Highpoint RAID drivers (from the HighPoint website) has left me with a broken lump of source code that won't compile! anyone successfully made this mod to the Kernel and got the RAID working ? Or should I give up and use a Software Raid instead ? |
