Mandrake 9.2 wm Q
Hello all, im running mandrake 9.2, switched over from redhat9/fedora core1. it's not bad, the main reason i switched was due to a HELL of a time trying (and failing) to install icewm, blackbox, etc. well, this one has the main ones i want. well, i somehow stumbled into icewm yesterday (forgot how). the shell tells me 'switchdesk' isn't found so i can't get the wm pop up like in RH/Fedora. Why not! In other posts, it is recommended using switchdesk for mandrake/RH but apparently not! any help is appreciated, thank you.
PS. haven't looked a lot through the forum but anyone got a quick/EASY guide to installing xfce geared toward newbies? thanks again. |
To install (as root):
urpmi xfce Then you only need to start it. If you're using graphical login, it should be in the menu. |
wow
dear lord...you just type it and it satisfies dependencies...and it works. beside the "K" menu popping up when i click it, this has got to be the first thing i've EVER had go right on a linux computer...one small step. thanks a lot mara!
EDIT: Well that was short lived, loaded up xfce without a GUI and it gave me static and lines, had to restart to windows...i seem to be 90% in windows cuz it WORKS. |
