for the Internet check the output of these commands after connecting

ifconfig

route -n

cat /etc/resolv.conf

not being able to ping an ip address would suggest a route problem, once that is corrected you may still have a problem using names if /etc/resolv.conf is not correct.

let us know the results

ok it seems that /etc/resolv.conf is working fine with kppp, but it looks like there are some extra entries in there, I would remove all entries there and they will be created when you connect

The problem is that you have a LAN interface configured as the default route and that's where everything's trying to go

run this command before connecting

route del default

you could also do it after connecting but you will need to delete the default route and then set it to your ip address, which is likely to change each time

route del default
route add default gw 168.209.4.73 (this ip was the one shown as a static route in route -n)

you cannot set the default gateway until it's reachable, so there must be a static route first

this is all going to be automatic if you just delete the default before connecting

you might want to look over the settings in the kppp account under the Gateway Tab. See if you have selected "Assign the default Route to this Gateway"
