Mandrake 8.2 interface Qs

Hi, I have four questions that I haven't found a solution yet. First, is that I set up Linux to automatically boot into an account (jason :) ), but I keep entering Gnome rather than KDE. I checked the Control Center's boot configs and jason had a default of KDE.

Second, when Linux asked for the administrator's password in dos style, it was always too fast to disappear before I could type it.

Third, in KDE, I have acceleration and threshold for mouse behavior, and I was wondering if there's a plain "speed" param, since I'm used to the Windows way. Also, I couldn't find a way so when I depress the wheel of my mouse, an "arrow pad" will show up and I could either drag up and down in a webpage or roll (windows habits). Do I need a driver for this?

Lastly, is there any [very] simple tutorials for installing Wine (free)? I see the official manual goes through typing lines of commands, but were do I even type them? And I couldn't find Wine after I installed it.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm a :newbie:. So, thanks in advance.

to find where wine is installed, open kpackage and use find package to find the wine package.

if you are not sure where kpackage is located, run kpackage at command promt. you can toggle between properties of the package and file list

Packages are always in .rpm, right? I've already installed mine, so my wine is not a package anymore? a .exe executable? The official manual said the commands are for Red Hat, so I'm not sure how to do it in Mndrake. Like, do I type in Mandrake with Level 3 (text mode) bootup, or in the wine program?
