Mandrake 8.1, Driver Install, Modem, CD-Rom Problems?
Ok I get through the set-up process and can boot to KDE or GNOME, etc. But I don't understand the following:
Problem 1: Modem-
My modem, a USR CP5610 (linux compatable hardware modem) doesn't seem to work. Mandrake always says "Modem Busy". I initiall specified the com port (COM3) for the modem, and upon initial boot it changed it to "dev/modem/". I have tied all availabe (listed in the config utility) other options and they basically all have exactly the same result?
Do I have to install drivers for this? Even if it recognizes it?
Problem 2: CD-Rom's
My CD drivers can be viewed in the hardware settings, but I can't view them in the desktop. I put in a disk and don't see anything on the desktop and can't find how to access them elsewhere.
Do I need to mount them? They are detected during install as hddc and hddd. How do I access/install them?
