Hi guys.. i was using Mandrake 9.2 before and i had this weird problem regarding my resolutions not on positions (eg. the screen isnt where it suppose to be,its out of place on the monitor, and i have to adjust it back to the correct position using the monitor.) but on my windows the positions is correct and no problems at all.I figured out problaly tryin Mandrake 10 would help out,but still the same problem occured.Anyone been tru this situation before or Can help me out?
- when i was using Mandrake 8.1,i dint have this problem. i'm using : Pentium 3 850Mhz 128 SDRAM, 20gig Maxtor HDD, Winfast Geforce 2 MX, AC'97 built-in sound. |
some good hardened unix/linux users I know keep saying mandrake is no good.
User friendly yes, good for the proggrammer/ experienced Linux user, no. also how old is the monitor? I have a new CRT 17'' and the screen position is perfect. but I also have an older monitor, that runs REdhat and fvwm, and the first time X was started it was off center, but a simple twist of the H-V settings fixed it, never to be off center again. |
hrm.. issit possible tat this monitor is kinda old.. i needa admit.. this monitor is kinda old dough.. i'm gonna try use another monitor.. and see if it works.

Run xvidtune (as root) and tune the vert and horiz positions. It will generate a modeline you can add to your etc/X11/XF86Config-4.
