can somebody assure me that im not wasteing my time, by trying to fix the issue i have with my mandrake 10 install, i can not get 3d to work i know that other people have had this problem but can i be told if i can work mandrake to fully suport opengl and direct rendering at this time it barely runs the opengl screen saver,i have tried many things and hear confusing report saying it will definatly not work and other saying it will, i would like to use linux but can not without 3d accelration i am not thinking it will be as fast as xp but i would like some, please help?

corsair 1gb running dual mode
gigabyte 7n400pro v1
gigayte radeon 9700pro
sb audigy 2

you have to download and install the ati drivers, even they are only for kernel 2.4 they work with no
problems on my mandrake 10 system. I just followed the Steps explained in the README

Basic steps:
1. get fglrx rpm from www.ati.com
2. install kernel source (rpmdrake)
3. run rpm -ivh --force drivers.rpm
4. run fglrxconfig and answer questions
5. restart your X System by ctrl-alt-backshift or reboot
6. run glxinfo and glxgears to test opengl

worked flawlessly on my mandrake 10
