mandrake 10 1.st install dual XP, login failure on Linux
I finally got Linux installed and with the login screen, but I got problems with username and password................
Tried to use rescue on the cd and do believe I fixed a new password OK ? I got 3 partitions on Linux and are dual booting with XP ! When I now start "Linux" option after boot I reach the login screen....types login and password and then I got the answer No directory /home/sverre Logging in with home = "/" The -bash-2.05$ remains and nothing happens So what am I going to do now ??? I formatted and mounted all 3 partition hda5 (5,7Gb ext3), hda9 (swap 494mb) and hda10 (home 3,5Gb) sverre |
Lucky me I finally got it to work (almost). I'm able to log in use the startx to boot up Linux.
I used root password first and added new user from here. What is the most common or usual start option ? KDE ? Standard ? Gnome ? I used KDE as startup, but got some massages here that is; 1. Startup KDE could not read network connection list //.DCOP server_radar.lan_0 2. Could not write to file //.kde/share/config/ksplashrc and kdeglobals 3. No write aaccess to $home directory (/) 4. KDE unable to start Someone have a clue for this ? This is first time for me in the Linux world ! I've tried internet with ADSL and it works OK. Also tried some application that works fine. Sverre |
