Does anyone running Mandrake Linux 10.1, know anything about how to enable the agp gart? I have been trying to figure this out for a week now, and I have no resort to anything but this. My Kernel is build 2.6.8.1 and its running on a Pentium 3 700 MHz Processor. I have a Radion 9200 AGP Video card (128 MHz).
if this does not fix it, there should be some documents in the kernel source directory (cd /usr/src/linux/doc, install the kernel source if it is not allready) there should be a document on agpgart. I think the proper command is modprobe agpgart -ati or -ATI or -radeon
the modprobe didnt work. I know I am using Xorg 6.7 and think i need xfree, does anyone know, which is compatible with the 2.6.8.1 kernel? on mandrake?
This has nothing to do with the X configuration, x.org is simply the xfree you used in your last distro but with a few bugfixes. This is a kernelmodule that is not loaded, I have had this problem myself. To fix it you have to load the first or second mandrake disc, look for the rpm file that has got something to do with the kernel source, rpm -i install it. cd into /usr/src/linux/doc look for a document about agpgart and figure it out that way, it is not that hard, you only have to sit down and press some buttons for about 5 min. I had the exact same problem myself, and that is how I fixed it. You can also search the forums here, this question has most likely been asked earlier.
