The package manager seems to assume that you know what you are doing with this and does NOT necessarily inform you of which category any specific package will fall under (as some do not truly fall into EITHER as they are run more as a SERVICE)

I have noticed this.I also have d/l and installed some bug fixes and such that I didnt expect to be able to find or need to find. The cheops urpmi is a game.Chess oponents instructor.I dont know how to play chess nor have the desire to learn.I am just trying to figure out this cryptic package thing.I got the urpmi from
http://www.linuxlots.com/~buho/?URPMI_Repository .I used this repo while following another online tutorial example.I started with the debian base install 3 weeks ago.I learned the apt-get install pretty well, installed and configured x/kde and could'nt get it to run.I asked for a week on various boards how to accomplish this, printed reams of info from howto sites i was referred to.Still the answers were overly complicated.Sure wish someone would have just said.....Type startx .I am starting to understand from the link aysui gave.If I install a cd burner proggy for example it should automatically show up in the star(start) menu.....cool.Thanks for the info.
BTW is there a site that has a list of urpmi repositories?None of my browsers preinstalled link buttons seem to work. They all take me to a verisign page?
