making a broadband connection
How to make a broadband connection in ubuntu 8.4 using ADSL Modem
|
Well, can we assume you have an ethernet card in your computer that connects to the ADSL Modem? More details get better replies, don't make us assume or guess, I mean, there's literally thousands of types of NIC's out there, do we really need to guess which one you might be using?

It should be as easy as plugging the network cable into the modem and pc and rebooting.
If not, I suspect you are trying to use the USB cable your internet provider foolishly shipped? Don't use the USB cable. There wont be any Linux drivers. Get a network cable. Also known as a "CAT5 patch cable" or "CAT6 patch cable" or "RJ45 straight cable" Do NOT get a cable that refers to "Crossover" or "PC to PC". Use the network connection to plug into the internet. Do you have an ADSL modem or do you have a DSL modem?
Maybe tell us who is your internet service provider. Don't all learning processes seem to be slow and painful learning processes when your going through them? |
