make linux wake up from the sleeping mode

my linux machine goes into sleep mode after 10 or 5 minutes... but anybody knows how to make it wake up from it?

i am a super newbie...

not really. it didn't work for me in windows 98 either. it just wouldn't wake up in either linux or windows for me. therefore, i always end up turning off that power saver stuff in the bios anyway.

Ok, I had an older computer once that did this, and what I discovered was that if it went into suspend mode, I had to hit the power button once to bring it back (with the default setup you had to hold it donw for 5 secs to get it to force shutdown).

Try the motherboard or computer manufacturer's website for documentation. Also check BIOS, there may be options to change the way to bring it out of suspend/standby.

And then go into your bios - usually done by pressing a specific key (like del or something) then find the power saving settings and disable power saving features, or set the features differently cause 5-10 minutes is not a very long time - on my laptops I usually disable the settings altogether....
