Hello
When building lfs you must be vary careful to follow the instruction in the book evan a single missed stepped will cause all kinds of bugs later on. What I had to do the first time I built lfs and ran into an error was go back over my bash history (which you can do by logging in to the user you were building lfs in and typing history on the command line, then comparing line by line what you did and what the book say to do. then rebuilding the package the error was in and all the other package after.

Good luck

If you are sure that you follow all the instruction in the book, then make sure you are deleting all the source directory when you have conpleted the install. This is especially true when you do the first pass. I made this mistake to.

i got past that error.
i reinstalled my host OS i.e RHEL5 in graphics mode and selected all packages for installation i.e select all other software development packages in addition to what are installed by default.
