Make command always ends up in trouble ..!!


i have problems with "make" command.. 70% of the time try to install a new software ..it doesnt work.. i mean after ./configure , when i type make ..most of the time it gives me error ..
i use ubuntu .. is there any alternative way to install softwares.. i wanted to install THC hydra , and apt-get didnt show any softwares .. wat should i do now?

Ubuntu is a Debian derivative and so uses apt and synaptic - https://help.ubuntu.com/6.10/ubuntu/...e/C/index.html will be of help, particularly the section on Administrative Tasks. I would avoid using source packages if I were you - they will cuse problems if you mix them with .deb packages.

Does running ./configure give any errors? Ubuntu does not have a C-compiler installed by default, so ./configure might report this as an error. And if you ignore it, make will not work.

Just a thought.

Because the software is not well done, its a bug.
For hydra, search on LQ, I have answered.

nop ./configure doesnt give me any error .. i have already installed the compiler.. the problem is with the make command

instalation worked .!!

but how do i start hydra.. where is the windows equvalent of hydra.exe ??

Run updatedb. Next you can use locate hydra or slocate hydra (whichever is available on your system); this works if the program is actually called hydra.

As an alternative you can use whereis hydra or find / -name hydra -print; the latter will search the whole HD for something called hydra.
