make can't find build command

Hi,
I'm trying to get my usb-wlan (Zydas ZD1211) to work, so I want to install compat-wireless-2.6.
For this package I downloaded the make-package, which won't work. It says it can't find build in the linux directory of my library directory. I already installed the build-essential package, are there any packages that I also need? I have debian 5.0 KDE installed on my old Dell laptop (PIII 750mHz).
Kind regards,
Rob

You need to install the kernel source and probably the kernel headers (or devel) packages. Edit: also, FWIW, "build" is usually a sym link to your kernel source directory.

Thanks! I can work from there. By the way, probably a stupid question, but I'm a total newbie, what does FWIW mean?

FWIW = for what it's worth.
