Make bootable linux CD with Windows/Nero (NOT buirning an image)

I need some (hopefully) simple help. I need to make a bootable CD from inside Windows, with Nero 5 - It's what I've got on hand.

I found lots of threads and pages about burning images, but nothing about making my own.

What I need this for: I'm making a customized Slackware installation CD. My machine has some special needs that the stock installer doesn't support.

I know to start Nero and select 'CD-ROM (boot)', but I'm kind of lost after that.

Help is appreciated.

there is a posibillity to specify a (floppy) disk image to use as bootable part for your cd.
you have to create a boot disk for your slackware setup using linux (or a file containing the image of the disk) and use this in nero.

I never did this for linux boot cds, but the method is the same for any bootable cd.

maybe you have to adopt the disk boot image to load the ide, cdrom, iso9660 etc. modules using initrd.

Florian

Looked into making a floppy image. The problem with that is that the kernel, initrd, isolinux, and so on, are over 3MB (3.27MB), too big for a 2.88MB floppy image, and I've got everything as small as it will get. :-/

So, I have to use a bootable disk that's not the floppy, which would be my flash drive. I've got it flagged bootable, but I tried making a CD from it, and it didn't work. I've put isolinux and everything that (I think) is required on it... maybe I missed something?

hello my friend. So you have slack iso on your windows and want to burn it? I might be wrong in this since i havent tried moding an iso before burning. you could look into LFS for info on creating a bootable ISO. maybe it will list something your missing. i did find this other link though
http://www.linuxclues.com/articles/05.htm

and here is LFS
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

i hope this helps
