mailx -r flag missing on RH 4

Hi,

Just wanted to find out if the implementation of mail and mailx on Red Hat have the -r flag (for reply-to address) enabled?

I've been to public.research.att.com which displays the man page as having a -r flag:

-r, --address=address
Set the reply to header address to address.

but when I issue the command 'mail -r' on my red hat box, I get:

[oradev@oracledb bin]$ mail -r
mail: invalid option -- r
Usage: mail [-iInv] [-s subject] [-c cc-addr] [-b bcc-addr] to-addr ...
[- sendmail-options ...]
mail [-iInNv] -f [name]
mail [-iInNv] [-u user]

Any help would be appreciated. Especially if ther's a way of getting a version of mail which responds to -r!!!

Cheers

Alex

Hi, Did you ever find a solution for this? I am running into the exact same issue, I searched all over the web to see if I was missing a setting or if something wasn't installed. I can do the this on my UNIX box no problem - Linux box got what you got.

please do not resurrect a 6 year old thread 2006

RHEL4 is no longer supported by red hat
( except for the EXTRA extended "life support" )
red hat went from 7 to 10 life span and RHEL4 got a "pardon" on it's death sentence

if your servers are STILL using RHEL4
it is time to upgrade to the old rhel5 or the current RHEL6.3
