Hey all,

I'm about to install a imap program. I was looking at Courier, and I noticed it used maildir instead of mbox'es.

My question is, what do I have to do to make my machine compatiable to use the maildir. I have a very basic Red Hat 9 linux installation, and I know sendmail puts everything in each users mbox.

From what I've read, maildir are the way to go, but I am unsure of how to proceed. Or should I just go ahead and use mbox? I'm not running a very large mail server anyways. Any help would be great! Thanks

Maildir is considered by many to be a better system then mbox. The problem is I don't think sendmail works with maildir. It is perferred by me, and several other mailserver admins that I know, to scrap sendmail and go with a postfix or qmail server. Both of them support maildirs out of the box, plus they are more stable, more secure, and more feature rich then sendmail.
