Mail Server Software Choice

I need to setup a mail server with SMTP and POP3 capabilities on a RedHat 9 server, which hosts multiple domains. Sendmail comes bundled with Redhat, but I have heard other good things about mail server software such as qmail or postfix.

What are the highlighted features of each mail server?

Postfix is made to be secure, fast and stable. I have used both and find that postfix is SO MUCH easier to configure -- you can do it in about 1 hr from source.

The log files in postfix are easier to read and inter... Sendmail was not but with security in mind. You will NEED a book to setup sendmail -- or use the Web GUI config.

Michael. -- Stick with Postfix.
