mail configuration


hi i want to sent mail from my linux box via command line to outside network (like gmail ) ..

we have a mailserver 192.*.*.* ,
username and passwd also there

what should i want to do in my machine to do that ??

Have a look at alpine or mutt- they are quite powerful.

i seen mutt, sentmail both can sent mail , but i dont know were to give (smtp username ,passwd,ip,portno) of the mailserver .

mutt needs to have an MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) - it can be sendmail (google for tutorials on setting up sendmail) or any other MTA. sSMTP is an example of an MTA which is much easier to configure.
