Mail Command

When I run this command:

mail myemailaddress@whatever.com -s "Backup Report" < /usr/lib/edge/lists/simple_job/edge_summary.txt

How come on some of my customer's servers it will get an email from:

root [root@localhost.localdomain]
with the subject "Backup Report"
and the file in the Body

But on other's I do not get an email at all, how can I get it so this will work on all the servers I deal with?

Thank you!

All Servers are Redhat (some are different versions though)

Do all of them have postfix, exim4 or sendmail installed and configured?
